Five coupes are gone, and there are five convertibles on order

The R8 GT sprints from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

“All five cars are accounted for and allocated to dealers and customers,” said Audi Australia boss Uwe Hagan. “So we have ordered five convertibles also. These are spoken for among the dealers and some have customers against them, there are maybe one or two left.”

The R8 GT is the lightweight, road-going version of the R8 LMS car developed for 24 hour circuit racing.

It tips the scales art 1525kg, at least 100kg less than the regular R8 model. Customers can make the car lighter still by opting for carbon-fibre racing seats.

Only 333 R8 GTs coupes will be made worldwide, along with another 333 R8 GT convertibles.
